Christmas Card Photo Day

Every year since 2005 we have created our own custom Christmas card to mail out or hand deliver. For the first few years, we used the fantastic poinsettia tree at Flower World near Bothell, Washington. When we moved to Florida, we had to find a new backdrop. This year, I think we found a great location.

Susan discovered Rockledge Gardens while researching colorfully decorated holiday locations. She even called to verify that photography was permitted on their premises. This became our ‘Plan A’, with Cocoa Village our ‘Plan B’.

Happily, we did not need a ‘Plan B’. Rockledge Gardens was beautiful. They had a whole greenhouse full of poinsettias and other plants that fit well into the Christmas theme. We found a small trellis with a fountain that we liked.

Susan pulled over a bench and chair while I setup the camera. We tried four or five different poses and came away with a few photos that will look good in this year’s card. Here are a few of the ones that I especially like, even though they won’t be used for the card.

Outside the greenhouse was a pretty nice ‘G’ scale train layout. Andrew had a great time running around, watching it go into and out of the long tunnel.
