Long Weekend In Richmond

We just got back from our short visit to relatives in Richmond, Virginia. We drove up to attend a funeral. We left the house just after midnight on Thursday and arrived around 2:00PM. Living in Florida, I had totally forgotten about the concept of "Spring". Everything was so green as we drove north. It was much prettier than our trip up in December. Once out of the car, I went straight to bed, while everyone else went to the public viewing at the funeral home. After waking up, I put in a couple hours of aviation reading.

Friday was the actual funeral. We picked up Susan's sister and drove to the church. I couldn't believe it, but the car was on empty -- even thought they had taken the car to the viewing the night before. After the funeral, we headed straight to a gas station, and as a result, were almost late to the cemetery. The funeral was brief, then it was off to the reception (is that the right word?). I met a guy who works as an ATC in Greensboro, NC.

Saturday was a slow day. We ate pancakes and eventually drove to a local park with a playground. We took along Susan's brother and our nephew, then had to drop off our nephew at work on the way back. We got to bed late, after watching Star Wars: Return of the Jedi yet again with Andrew.

This morning, we rolled out of bed at 3:00AM and hit the highway before 4:00. Our only stops were for fuel and to switch drivers at Rest Areas. We arrived in Vero Beach at 5:00PM. I'm tired and want to take a nap, but the apartment is over 90 degrees.
